Manchester United extend Fellaini’s contract

Marouane Fellaini has extended his contract with Manchester United by 12 months, after the club triggered an option of a one-year extension in his current deal.

Senior figures at Old Trafford and sources close to the player, have confirmed to ESPN FC that Fellaini has indeed committed himself to United for one more year.

The Belgian midfielder arrived at the club in August 2013 for £27.5million from Everton. He signed a four-year contract at the time with the option of a further year.

Manager Jose Mourinho already told the club that he would not consider any offer for the 29-year-old, as he remains an important part of his squad.

This led to officials meeting with Fellaini’s representatives, to notify them they would be taking up their option to extend the contract until June 2018.
