BIAFRA: WHAT IS THE PURPOSE, RELEVANCE, AND NECESSITY?...AN OPEN QUESTION TO NIGERIANS

Biafra, officially the Republic of Biafra, was a secessionist state in eastern Nigeria that existed from 30 May 1967 to January 1970. It took its name from the Bight of Biafra, the Atlantic bay to its south. The inhabitants were mostly the Igbo people who led the secession due to economic, ethnic, cultural and religious tensions among the various peoples of Nigeria. Other ethnic groups that constituted the republic were the Efik, Ibibio, Annang, Ejagham, Eket,Ibeno and the Ijaw among others.

Eastern Nigeria harbors the most Industrious People In Nigeria, a Large Percentage of the Social Amenities we enjoy in Nigeria are Produced in the East which is dominated by the Igbo Speaking Tribe.

When we take a close look at History, we will find out that over three Million persons Lost their Lives between 1967 - 1970 during the Biafran Period, Most of these people died from starvation due to the blockade by the then Nigeria Military Government, Not just food, but Medical supplies were Limited also.

Now, for almost half a Century, the BIAFRA movement continues to grow stronger by the day, attracting different world Leaders and Organisations. The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) is One of the Numerous group trying to achieve this dream, another is the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), led by a United Kingdom-based Biafran, Nnamdi Kanu who is being detained by the federal Government as we all know.

Now, from Experience, I have seen many Persons talk about their own View of What BIAFRA is all about. Many have this great dream that BIAFRA we survive alone without the remaining parts of the Country. Everyone with their own dream and picture of what they describe as a Nation that must Stand out.

Now, the Questions we must ask ourselves
