In a brief chat with journalists in Lagos to highlight some of the activities that will take place during the week-long event, Otunba Adekunle O. Oyebola, the chairman of Ikorodu Oga Development Association (IKODASS), explained that there are also efforts by the organisers to ensure that this event becomes a must-attend for tourists from all over the world.
“We have taken a bold step by registering at the ministry of arts and culture and we are seriously looking forward to ensuring that this festival becomes one of the major events from Lagosians all over as well as people from outside the state and country at large.
“The idea is for the festival to go global and get the maximum support and reach that it deserves because it is as colourful and traditional as the other ones that we attend in other parts of the country and abroad,” the respected chief noted.
He added: “The Igbos and Arewas are actively involved in this festival, this is to show you how much importance the people of Ikorodu attach to this event.”
Some of the activities that will take place during the festival include a beauty pageant show, the traditional Woro cultural carnival, artisan day for heroes and heroines of Ikorodu, among other important events to celebrate the annual event.
