The governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in Ondo state, Olusola Oke, has declared that his rising popularity and candidacy is becoming a “big and great threat” to the other candidates participating in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

According to Sahara Reporters, Oke, during the flag-off of his campaign tour, on Monday, October 24, in Bolorunduro, headquarters of Ondo East local government area of the state, stated that he is prepared for the governorship battle.

The guber candidate, who dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the AD, also stated that his rising popularity would lead him to victory in the November 26, governorship poll.

He claimed that he joined the AD to purse his dream to become the next governor of the state after a wide consultation with his supporters, noting that no amount of political intimidation could stop him from campaigning ahead of the poll.

He said: “My popularity is now rising every day among the gladiators for this governorship election, and we shall win big by the grace of God and with the support of the people you saw here today.

“Even my candidacy is now a big threat to both members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are participating in the poll, but we shall re-strategize more on our campaigns.”

The AD flag-bearer begged the thousands of supporters that attended the campaign to vote for his party, noting that it was high time the electorates reject moneybag politicians who are in the race to siphon the common wealth and collective resources of the State.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 16,723 of its personnel will be deployed to conduct the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo state scheduled for Saturday, November 26.

This comes as the the commission will publish the list of nominated candidates to represent political parties on Thursday, October 27. The anticipated publication is in compliance with the relevant sections of the law.
