Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ibrahim Magu

Ibrahim Magu, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), has said every government official is under investigation without them knowing about it.

He dispelled the insinuation in some quarters that EFCC operations were one sided, saying this was not true, saying “We have cause to investigate and in fact we are investigating even those that are in government without them knowing.”

The chairman of the anti-graft commission stated this during a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the National Union of Textiles and Garment Tailoring Workers of Nigeria (NUTGTWN) in Kaduna on Tuesday, October 25, describing corruption as a crime against humanity.

Magu said he has the mandate of President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate every Nigerian who has any question to answer irrespective of his political affiliation.

He said the present administration had the political will to fight corruption, noting, even Vice-President YemiOsinbajo and many other prominent people in government had the passion to fight corruption.

“I don’t think we have the monopoly of knowledge to tackle corruption. Everybody is a stakeholder. But more than that, the fight against corruption is designed and structured to boost confidence in the economy, as well as to attract investors both within and outside the country.”

The anti -graft boss maintained that there was hope in this country if things would be done properly, saying, “I don’t lose hope, there will be better Nigeria.”

In a related development, the former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode is said to have slumped while in the custody of the EFCC.

The special adviser on media to Fani-Kayode Jude Ndukwe said the minister slumped on Saturday, October 22, at the commission’s facility in Abuja. Ndukwe said the former minister was immediately attended to by medical personnel at the commission’s facility.
