Yemi Osinbajo says Nigerians are lucky that President Buhari is an honest man.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has pleaded with Nigerians to exercise patient with President Muhammadu Buhari over the state of the Nigerian economy.
According to Vanguard, Osinbajo made the plea during his speech at a town hall meeting with selected audience in Kano recently.
The vice president at the event expressed the confidence that Nigerians would come out of this recession happy.
He said: “let’s be patient, let’s work hard, and we are lucky with the kind of President we have, he is an honest man”
Osinbajo said he had no doubt in his mind that President Buhari would led Nigeria out of the economic wood, stressing that "Mr President honesty would do the magic".
“This country needs honest leadership, we need somebody like Buhari who is not going to steal your money," he said.
Osinbajo disclosed that the drop in oil revenue was worsened by the activities of militants in the Niger Delta which drastically reduced foreign exchange earning.
He however added that the federal government is making efforts to stir the country out the wood and called tasked Nigerians to continue to support the government
Meanwhile, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has thrown his weight behind President Muhammadu Buhari's plan to borrow externally to shore up the economy as Nigeria continues battling recession.
According to Oyegun, borrowing is inevitable in view of the current economic realities in the country, adding that Nigeria must borrow to invest in infrastructure and grow the economy.
The ruling party chairman made the comments on Sunday, December 5, after receiving a lifetime achievement award presented to him by the Warri Choral Society during a classical music concert the Society held in his honour at the Muson Center in Lagos.
