The suspects, numbering four, were said to have trailed their victim from Ughelli in Delta State to a new generation bank at Technical College Road junction, where he had gone to make a withdrawal, after receiving information that he wanted to buy a car with the money.
It was learnt that the robbers trailed their victim in a grey Toyota Corolla car and followed him into the bank unnoticed.
According to a source, the suspects shot the victim in the leg as he attempted to exit the bank and reportedly robbed him of the sum of N500,000.
It was also learnt that the robbers shot sporadically into the air to scare passersby as they attempted to escape.
It was, however, gathered they ran out of luck when the shooting attracted the attention of some policemen of on patrol, who engaged them in a hot pursuit.
Two of the robbers were said to have been gunned down during an exchange of gunfire in the Evbomore area of Ugbowo, off Ugbowo-Lagos Road.
