According to Daily Trust, operatives of the EFCC have started investigation of the private residence of the former governor of Bauchi State Mallam Isa Yuguda and sealed up the property.

It quotes a statement issued on Saturday, October 22 by the special assistant to current Bauchi state governor on communications Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar as saying that Yuguda’s multi-million naira mansion at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Street, GRA Bauchi was visited by men of the anti-graft agency on Friday, October 21.

“This new development might not be unconnected with the series of complaints and petitions filed against the former governor by the current Bauchi State government under Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar to the EFCC,” he said.

But Daily Trust quotes one of the close associates of the former governor who confirmed the incidence as denying that the house was ever sealed by the EFCC.

He said that if the house was sealed, occupants of the residence would have been evacuated but they were still in the house.

Meanwhile, the EFCC says it investigations showed that the salary of former first lady of Nigeria Patience Jonathan was too small to get her a hotel.

The Nation reports that EFCC has retrieved monthly records of Patience’s salary and it showed that she earned just N700,000 as permanent secretary.
